Within 30 minutes we traveled from the sunny city of Innsbruck to the towering mountain peak of Hafelekarspitze. We rose six thousand feet on a series of cable cars and now found ourselves int the middle of clouds unable to see the valley below but able to look out in the endless chain of mountains. We knew we had arrived in the Alps.
